In January 2020, the average number of days a property was listed on the MLS Calgary market was for 67 days. In the same month properties for sale in Calgary in 2019 sold on average in 72 days. This figure is composed of all listings on the MLS Calgary System including condominiums, apartments, townhouses, single-family houses and attached houses for sale in Calgary.

Calgary is still experiencing some economic recovery and some affordability challenges. People are choosing residence in Calgary rentals longer rather than entering into the home ownership market. As a result, Calgary rentals are at a steady vacancy rate of 3.9 per cent. The average monthly rental rate in the city last year was $1,181, up 1.7 per cent from $1,149 in 2018. For a two-bedroom apartment rents increased by 2.2 per cent last year while in 2018, the hike was 1.5 per cent.
